The highest priority for Councils in May and June is to complete their 2013/14 projects. Despite a rough start to the calendar year all are confident projects will be completed and expenditures claimed by 30 June. Projects are being monitored closely to ensure this is realised and TIDS funding is not lost to the region.
Etheridge Shire Council has submitted a request to the Roads and Transport Alliance Board (RTAB) to return to the North West Queensland RRTG from FNQRRTG. This will be considered at the RTAB Board meeting on 20 May.
Again a quick reminder for Councils to get their Road and Rail Crossing Interface Agreements formalised.
FNQRRTG has arranged for training in the Alliance’s Road Asset Valuation Toolbox to be held in Cairns on Friday 27 June. Graham Jordan, who essentially led the project to establish the Toolbox, will be delivering the training. The response from Councils has been positive however there are still positions available.
Cassowary Coast has been doing some excellent work on Kirrama Range Road with a view to re-opening it to the travelling public later in the year. An inspection of the road and work is being organised prior to the next Technical Committee meeting.
