Regional Road Group - March 2013

Works Programs

All Councils are now back into the swing of things and focussed on project delivery when nature permits. Our TIDS expenditure levels are as follows:

Roads Alliance TIDS = 56%

SafeST TIDS = 100%

RSDP = 12%

Capability = 86%

Again a reminder that carryovers from 12/13 into 13/14 will not be permitted.  Any TIDS subsidy not spent and clailmed will be lost!

Therefore it is critical to get claims in to TMR and up to date for any expenditure incurred on TIDS projects. It is also critical to notify if there are any projects scheduled for 12/13 that won't get completed and claimed in 12/13.  This is to ensure the funding can be transferred to other projects, else the funding will be lost to the region.

At the RRG Assembly in late October the TMR Director-General advised that TIDS funding may return to their "pre-cut" levels once the State Government has its budget back in surplus. Councils, RRGs and LGAQ have and will continue to strongly lobby for this to occur as soon as possible, therefore it is imperative that 100% expenditure levels are achieved each year – if not the case is significantly weakened.

Unfortunately TMR has advised there is no further funding for SafeST in 12/13 and 13/14.  Therefore the SafeST works program will need to be "trimmed" up at the next Technical Committee meeting.

Bridge Asset Management Software

Cairns, Cassowary Coast and Tablelands now have the RICOR "AustBridge" system.  The training day was held in Cairns on 20 February.

IPWEAQ Investigation and Treatment of Crash Locations Course

Unfortunately the IPWEAQ Investigation and Treatment of Crash Locations Course training course had to be cancelled as the minimum number of attendees required to make it viable couldn't be obtained.  It may be rescheduled later in the year.

Asset Edge Presentation

Asset Edge is a company that has a number of mobile management solutions.  They are presenting at the next Technical Committee meeting on their range of products, in particular "RECOVER" – natural disaster management and "REFLECT" – inspection and maintenance management.
