Future Works Programs

LRRS & Non LRRS TIDS

The new 5 year works program from 2012/13 has been finalised. Design progress for the 2012/13 projects was reviewed at the TC meeting.

TIDS Cycleways

Unfortunately Cairns did not receive any funding under this program in 2012/13 for the 13 projects that were nominated.

SafeST TIDS

This program for 2012/13 and 2013/14 has been finalised.

LRRS Network Review

The LRRS Network Review was completed at the TC meeting – no changes were made.

Cape Tribulation-Bloomfield Link – Planning Study

The public consultation phase will commence in June with the Planning Study expected to be completed by August 2012. Detailed design for the Woobadda Creek crossing project is in progress.

Bridge Asset Management

FNQRRG has joined with NWQ, Wide Bay Burnett, Scenic Valleys, Rockhampton, Banana and Gladstone RRGs plus one smaller Council from the Northern SEQ RRG in submitting a funding application to the Roads Alliance Board's Statewide Capability Development Fund for the procurement of bridge asset management software.

The Technical Committee has also agreed to submit another application for the development of an alternative timber bridge inspection & maintenance manual.

Road Safety

• Training workshops on the NetRISK process (1/2 day) and the Road Safety Risk Manager software (1 day) are being organised for September 2012 in Cairns. They will run back-to-back and be delivered by ARRB and are likely to be scheduled around the Technical Committee meeting that month.
• Attempts are going to be made to organise a Road Safety Audit training workshop in FNQ in the second half of 2012.

Roads Alliance

• The Roads Alliance Board Chair is now the new TMR Director-General, Michael Caltabiano.
• The Roads Alliance is investigating combining all the various state subsidy schemes for Council roads and transport eg. SafeST TIDS, Cycleways TIDS, Regional Airport program, into a consolidated program with responsibility for the management and allocation to be given to Regional Road Groups.
