Happy new year to all – let's hope 2013 brings better news than 2012 on the funding front.  With the Christmas Holiday break there is very little "new" news to report.

Works Programs

• The 2013/2014 works program (LRRS and Non LRRS) has now been reduced down to $2,442,549 by the Technical Committee at its 12 December 2012 meeting – this being the TIDS subsidy amount.

• The 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 SafeST works program has not been reduced as yet.  The RRG has written to TMR asking consideration to retain this program in full.

• It is VITALLY IMPORTANT to note that carryovers from 2012/2013 into 2013/2014 will not be permitted.  Any TIDS subsidy not spent and claimed will be lost!

RRG Boundary Review

Both Croydon Shire Council and Etheridge Shire Council have indicated to the Roads Alliance Board they would like to join FNQRRG as of 1 July 2013.  Whilst no firm decision has been made it is highly likely this will eventuate.

National Heavy Vehicle Regulator – Workshop

The NHVR Workshop has been tentatively scheduled for Tuesday 12 February 2012 in Cairns.  This is still subject to confirmation.

Bridge Asset Management Software

At its 12 December 2012 meeting the Technical Committee assessed the proposals and opted to proceed with the purchase of the RICOR "AustBridge" system for Cairns, Cassowary Coast and Tablelands Regional Councils.  The installation, set up and training will be proceeding in the next few months.

IPWEAQ Investigation and Treatment of Crash Locations Course – February 2013

The IPWEAQ Investigation and Treatment of Crash Locations course is scheduled for 28-29 February 2013 in Cairns. This is subject to an absolute minimum of 12 attendees.  Councils need to register attendees direct with IPWEAQ urgently to ensure the course proceeds as planned.

Please note, SCDF funding from the Roads Alliance Board for this training has been approved at 50% of the cost to Councils.
