Our ongoing issue however, which was also addressed at this meeting, relates to the replacement of out of date luminaires in the FNQROC region (an estimated 4, 500 of them). Ergon have indicated that they are willing to work with us to develop a proposal for the replacement of these with approved Compact Fluorescent Lights. A critical part of this puzzle is defining the term 'end of life' and calculating the residual value on lights that have not quite reached that point. We have made contact with Ergon's Regulatory Branch seeking clarification on this matter and will feed that into the proposal. We will also need to engage with the Australian Energy Regulator who are better able to determine if a replacement program can be supported for out of date infrastructure. I have commenced preparing some figures to assist us develop a business case and from that we will be able to determine whether or not to push forward, and which Councils will reap the greatest benefits.
