The course was attended by 14 Council officers who work in Asset Management from Hinchinbrook Shire Council through to the Weipa Town Authority. Ordinarily this training is only provided in Brisbane, however Councils benefitted from a 50% discounted attendance fee as a result of the successful application by FNQRRTG to the RTA's State-wide Capability Development Fund. Again we sincerely thank the RTA's Board and Project Team for their support.

Feedback from the training was that it was very imformative and empowering. The NAMS Plus tools will enable Councils to link their long term financial plans to their asset management plans, rather than focusing on the funding gap, and that this will enable Councils to link funding with levels of service and asset condition. The quantification and communication of asset based risks, and the increased risks Councils expose themselves to by not funding renewals, also was a highlight of the training. The addition of new funding scenarios which do not rely on asset register data quality also will be of use to Councils. The potential addition of capacity and functionality rating also would enable Councils to look closely at the services they provide and assist in decision making regarding new or renewal funding. The information sharing and networking with other FNQROC Councils which face similar challenges also was a benefit and added to the experience of the training.
