Regional Infrastructure Projects Update - May 2016

Training update

Performance Based Standards Route Assessment Tool (PBS RAT)

We have received sufficient expressions of interest to apply to the Roads and Transport Alliance State-wide Capability Development Fund (SCDF) for councils to undertake this training. NB: soon to be known as the Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) Route Assessment Tool.

Participants in the training will:

  • Receive an overview of the current state of national heavy vehicle regulation;
  • Learn about the opportunities to use ‘pre-approved’ routes as a means to minimise permit application volumes; and
  • Be guided through a consistent route assessment process, focused on the road infrastructure assessment criterion that is most relevant to the local roads environment.

TMR training for Bridge Construction & Maintenance.

I will be seeking expressions of interest through the RRTG Technical Committee.

Traffic Management Design accreditation levels

Transport and Main Roads have advised that they have approved an extension of time for local government to transition to the new Traffic Management Design accreditation levels, and confirmed that Councils now have until 31 December 2016 to meet the minimum requirement of one (1) Traffic Management Design trained person. (The previous transition completion date was 30 June 2016.)
