Regional Infrastructure Projects Update - LGAQ training workshop for Elected members and senior staff on the Water and Wastewater sector

The Water and Wastewater for Councillors 1 day program is designed to provide Queensland Councillors with the background and knowledge needed to understand their council’s water and wastewater businesses. The workshop considers governance of water and wastewater in Queensland, including the legislative background and the various organisation models that exist across the state, as well as reporting and notification requirements. Participants will learn about the principles of risk based water and wastewater management, water and wastewater technologies and their application, the people issues confronting their businesses and how they are being addressed.

The workshop program recognises the diversity of water and wastewater businesses across Queensland and is tailored to the needs and circumstances of both large and small water businesses. The workshop will equip Councillors to communicate effectively and honestly with their communities about water and wastewater issues and give them the business knowledge and understanding to support their officers in managing efficient, cost-effective and future-proof water businesses
