FNQROC Regional Sustainability Group - November 2012

Mountain biking is not just the preserve of young adrenalin junkies careering down impossible slopes, indeed it has a broad following from toddlers to pensioners and is one of the fastest growing participation sports, globally.

FNQ is already on the world map with major international mountain bike events being held in the region. There are also opportunities to host other international and nation events, but our biggest strength will be our ability to offer one of the most unique locations in the world for mountain bikers

Where else on the planet can you mountain bike and…

  • be immersed in pristine World Heritage Rain Forests?
  • go from ocean to rainforest to savannah in one day?
  • Experience unique flora and fauna in one of the world’s most bio-diverse natural environments?
  • be connected by an international airport, only a short distance from the trails?
  • enjoy a full range of international standard tourism facilities such as accommodation, transport, eateries, translation services, guides, etc?
  • add to your stay with a myriad of other visitor activities, including the Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda Rail, hot air ballooning, white water rafting and much much more?
  • enjoy great weather almost all year round?
  • discover the real Australia with people who are famous for being friendly & hospitable and experienced in taking care of visitors?

Now is the perfect time to develop mountain biking as a major tourist segment which will deliver excellent community benefits across our region.
