Economic Development

FNQROC is a key partner in the Tropical North Queensland Regional Economic Plan (TNQREP). The key purpose of the TNQREP is to provide:

  • A high level blueprint which articulates a shared economic vision and identifies diverse strategies to achieve that vision;
  • A tool for understanding the regional economy, attracting investment and with 'one voice' driving government policy; and
  • Clear roles and responsibilities for implementation.

One of FNQROC's early responsibilities was to advocate for early rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN). The councils have worked collaboratively to develop our regional submission which was handed over to NBN Co in September 2011.
